The Austrian Audio OD505 active dynamic microphone is a live performance powerhouse that combines studio clarity and openness with the tight focus and rugged durability of a stage mic. Austrian Audio’s handmade ODC50 capsule and 3D Pop Noise Diffuser deliver rich, detailed sound while reducing bleed, feedback and plosives.

The built-in active circuitry adds 6-8dB of output so you can stand out and be heard, even with long cable runs and the loudest stages. Whether you’re cutting through a rock band, singing intricate harmonies, or need extra volume so your vocals reach the back row, the OD505 gives you the power you need to go the distance.

Also available is the OD505 WL1 wireless head, which upgrades any Shure wireless microphone with the ODC50 capsule.

The heart of the OD505

ODC50-SC DYNAMIC CAPSULE

The active front capsule requires 48V phantom power and, at 4.4 mV / Pa, has almost the same sensitivity as a condenser microphone. With its active circuitry, the OD505’s sound is always consistent, regardless of the internal resistance of the microphone preamplifier or length of connecting cables. The passive lower capsule is polarity-rotated, it senses and reduces unwanted handling noise, especially at the lower frequencies.

The OD505 also includes another Austrian Audio proprietary development: The 3D Pop Noise Diffuser. This filter is specially designed for the OD505 and effectively reduces the impact of plosives.
